THE LOCATION:
Nestled between the beach and valley, you'll find a sweet little hidden community of waterfront properties in Currumbin.
•Direct Ocean Access
With direct ocean access via a 5-minute boat trip to the beautiful Currumbin estuary, out through the Alley to the open ocean and excellent reef fishing! Enjoy fishing? Flathead, Bream and Taylor come to mind. The right-hand surf break at the Alley is great for longboarders, and remember our famous 'clean' Currumbin beach, Currumbin Alley surf schools and our fabulous and fun dog beach.
• No Roads to Cross to the Beach
Picture yourself riding your push bike or skateboard to the beachfront with your children without crossing a road. I know because I have experienced it for 20 years. What a fantastic way to bring up my children; so blessed!
• Nippers and Surf Clubs, The Estuary, The RSL Club, The Bird Sanctuary, Kayaks, Stand Up Paddleboards, The Boatshed Cafe, Currumbin Creek.
The Currumbin Surf Club is where we taught our kids to surf, and they continued to enjoy that wonderful life throughout their teen years and early adulthood — spending countless hours of 'free' and 'healthy' time with friends and family. The parks, the cafes, the creek and all it has to offer, what a life!
• Fast Direct access to the M1 and the Gold Coast Highway
From Currumbin, we have both highways on our doorstep with quick access north and south — the easiest and fastest entry to the M1 from anywhere on the gold coast. The Gold Coast highway is just as close; within a few minutes, you can be at bustling Burleigh Heads and every beach heading north! Twenty-five minutes to the world-famous Surfers Paradise for those bigger nights out!
• Northern NSW destinations
• Airport
Heading South, you can be at Snapper Rocks in 15 minutes and Byron Bay in under an hour. The Gold Coast national/ international airport is only 10 minutes away.
•Currumbin Valley
West is the gorgeous Currumbin Valley, leisurely walks, trails, freshwater rock pools and beautiful countryside (the old way to northern NSW over Tomewin)
•Theme Parks
•Brisbane City
North to the train station in 15 minutes (with upgrades on the way), theme parks in 30 minutes and Brisbane city in only an hour by car.
• The best location for family and fun
A truly unique place on the map! Come and see it for yourself.
THE HOME:
Built on many full-size telegraph poles driven into the ground beneath and engineered for upper storeys.
Please note: This elevated property has never flooded.
• Renovation
Renovated inside in 2010: we added new structural beams to open the floor plan. A 6-metre glass door opens the access to the outdoor area. A vast and open new glass galley kitchen leads to the laundry/butler's kitchen, glassed side access, timber floors throughout, and three new bathrooms with a double multi-jet spa in the main. The 5th room we added as a study/guest.
• Dual Living
We rebuilt the house's front section to incorporate a second outside entrance into the 'granny' flat. The flat has its own entrance and a lockable external door (inside) with soundproofing between rooms and separating it from the main house, comprising two oversized master bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchenette and a living area. My teenagers used this area while they were in university.
• Inside Living
Walk through the large front entrance, and you are in the 'home.' High-raked ceilings and square cut corners add to the spaciousness. Free-flowing from the piano nook to the lounge and the dining to the kitchen, we have always had a ten-seater lounge and dining table in this space while the kids were with us.
• Alfresco
Be ready for the visitors! Beautiful blue-tiled lagoon pool. Grassed area and a back chair for fishing and launching the boat via the wide water frontage. Perfect for all family and friend gatherings. Remember to put the crab pots out!
• The Parent's retreat
Separated by the living area, turn left into the parent's retreat. On two levels, a spiral staircase leads to either the bedroom mezzanine or a sitting room and balcony upstairs. It's up to you.
We renovated the ensuite in 2022, and timber floors feature through the lower level.
There are four external exits from this area. Another possible separate dwelling with enough space for a living and kitchenette as was initially planned.
• Entrance
This house's front entrance walk and external features have been kept original apart from the waterproof shade sails over the drive.
• The Gardens
I hope you are a keen gardener! If so, you can be self-sufficient with large vegetable garden beds and over 40 fruit trees and vines on this large block.
