The undeveloped 2-hectare block was purchased in 1992 and built in the same year. The house is built on a low rocky hill and the remainder is part of a wet-season lagoon. The block is uncleared except for the house site and for other essential infrastructure, with the aim of retaining and promoting the local fauna and flora. It is one of the few elevated blocks in the area.

The house is made of cinnamon-coloured concrete blocks on a concrete slab and has a corrugated iron roof. The ceilings are insulated and the floors are NT slate throughout.
The house has a verandah all around. It has three bedrooms, a study/bedroom, and two bathrooms with a central living area and kitchen. The bedrooms and the study are air-conditioned.
The laundry is on the verandah and a new hot water system is installed there.
There is a large patio area with an in-ground saltwater plunge pool and spa.

The water supply is from an underground bore with a flow rate of 1.6 l/sec, which is adequate for domestic and garden purposes. The bore has never run dry. The water is soft but with dissolved iron from rocks in the aquifer. A spray and filter are installed to remove the iron. Water is pumped from the bore via an electric submersible pump to a (new) 10,000 litre tank. It is then pumped to the house by a pressure pump.

There is a trouble-free septic system.

Mains power is connected and supplemented by a 15 KVA diesel generator with an automatic transfer switch. This can provide electricity to the whole house during cyclones and other power outages.

The lawns and garden are watered by a 9-channel automatic watering system.

NBN is connected (fixed wireless) and connection speeds are adequate to work from home.

There is an adjoining fully enclosed shed and two carports. The shed has 10 and 15-amp outlets, two sinks, and a mezzanine level for additional storage. There are lots of power points throughout.
There is a shade house with mist sprays and with a central bench for propagation.
The driveway is a bitumen.

The lagoon is full from about December to April, the timing dependent on the monsoons, and is up to two metres deep. In the dry season frogs live underground in the lagoon and emerge with the first monsoons, at which time it is very noisy. Crocodiles have never been sighted.

The block has a range of microhabitats and is visited by a wide range of birds, animals reptiles, and insects. Emerald Ground Pigeons and Pittas are seasonal visitors. Wallabies will come up on the lawn in the morning if there are no dogs. Trees in the lagoon attract a great variety of nectar-eating birds in the wet season. Two areas have mature northern Australian rainforest trees. Shrubs have been planted to support butterflies, both as caterpillars and adults, and insects such as native bees. Sadly cane toads have killed goannas, quolls, and snakes.

There are two nearby (5 minutes) shopping centres at Virgina and Coolalinga and a larger centre in Palmerston (10 minutes). Darwin is 30 minutes away by car. There is a preschool in Virginia and a number of primary and secondary schools in the Palmerston rural area.
